question about ram

ok i would like to know if it would be better to get 2 sticks of ddr2 ram total of 1gig . or get 1 stick of 1 gig ram. which is better
iknow to get to 8gig you need 1 stick of 1 gig.
which would work better??????????????????????????

If your only going to have 1GB for a while, then getting 2x 512MB would be better if your motherboard supports dual-channel.

And in order to have 8GB's, you need to have 4x 2GB sticks.

I am only going to have 1 gig for a while and am getting a single stick, then later this year I will get another to match. but if its going to be a long time, I would say 2 512 sticks.
