question about RAMBUS

i read somewhere that rambus ram requires the remaining slots to be filled, but i was wondering if those other slots could be replaced with more ram, but not only more ram, but also, say ddr ram. if i found some ram that was compatible, would it screw everything up because i would have two types of ram or no?

Heya

Yeah I have heard about those dummy things that you put into the remaining slots. However, I am psoitive you cannot use DDR in those slots.

JAN :D

yea, so i hear...its on an older optiplex...i heard intel was incorporating rambus pretty heavily for a while, but that was short lived. and yea, i hear rambus equivalents are like five times as expensive as regular ddr...crazy, and not worth it.

i have a dimension 8100 that uses rambus and i just gave up. It would cost me £119 for 128mb so as most people would say "ehhhhhhhh NO!
