question about the amd sempron

Yes

It is comparable. You have the Pentiums on the stongs side, Celeron on the lower side. The same goes for AMD, Sempron for the lower and Athlon for the stronger (although this is a rather general and simple explanantion).

Though the semprons are MUCH more powerful than the Celerons...
are we talking celerons or celeron D's.
This is still down to the type of task being performed. Celeron D's will beat equally rated semeprons in some bench marks and visa versa.

Yeah it should work with BF2 I would get the 700 socket ones though, as long as you have a mobo that will work with it. not the 400 ones. Its not 400 and 700 by the way, i just dont remember it exactly i think its 468 and 769 or something like that.

ive read that the sempron is as good as the athlon counterparts, but lacks the 64bit capabilities...

Haha

You have not hear enough. THE NEW SEMPRONS are 64BIT (Came out about a week ago). They come for socket 754 and fully support 64bit instructions. The only reason they are not as powerful as the Athlon 64s is that they have a lower cache. However, they will perform very well....especially those with the Palermo core because they have a large overclocking capability.

Intel

is the amd sempron like the intel celeron version
Not quite. The Sempron is marketed to compete against the CeleronD (and it thoroughly trumps it)

Well from the quote ... "Celerons"

Celeron D's will beat equally rated semeprons in some bench marks and visa versa
Very true but that only applies to comapring with SocketA Semprons.

ive read that the sempron is as good as the athlon counterparts, but lacks the 64bit capabilities...
They have 64bit capabilities now :)

The Intel Celeron D processor 351 is the fastest of the new 64bit chips, clocked at 3.2GHz there is also the Celeron D chips 346, 341, 336, 331 and 326, clocked at 3.06GHz, 2.93GHz, 2.8GHz, 2.66GHz and 2.53GHz, respectively.
