Question about this PSU...

Ok, the only reason i got this PSU was that i was able to grab it for only $10 with a combo deal with the case i bought (so i already have the case and this PSU), so the question is do you think this psu is too cheap or unstable to run my system that i will be ordering pretty soon (intel rig in sig). Ill be using a 256mb X800XL until i get something like the 8800 then ill upgrade the psu...so will it be fine for temporary use? :)

Anytime you see a large wattage supply for $29.99 like the 500w+ Logisys make there expect the worst. The make itself is not found on a "good" list but did make the "foo bar" as seen here.

A good Silverstone or Corsair HX520 would be a better option to look at.
 
yeah...thats the only reason i got it...ill give it a shot i guess, and if it don't power up ill order a new one for about $80+ and just be delayed a few days :o. But the reviews weren't too bad so we'll see.. (crosses fingers) :P

yeah thats about what i had on my mind, so if everything works well ill use it until i upgrade to a better GPU....ill just put it into my HP instead of their crappy 300w stock psu, so I'd imagine it would be better than that :P
 
Someone known here just had to borrow the old 480w supply I recently swapped out when the one bought retail in a store started acting up? I have some doubts there. But he went ahead and put in the supply he got with the NZXT case he ordered when first building that case. What a headache! He has some Windows problems I have to work on as well. But having a good stable supply without going too high on price is something important on any build. Without a good supply? :eek: !
 
Logisys is rebadged Youngyear. It's rated for +12V@25A, and your system isn't likely to draw more than half of that (an X800XL draws <5A). Now Youngyear are bad, but not so bad that they can't sustain half of their rated output. You should be fine.

Just hold off on Overclocking, and make sure to get a new PSU when you get that 8800.

Youngyear are an OEM that make PSUs for Logisys, Apevia/Aspire, some Rosewill models and a few others. I can't think of a single good quality unit that they've made, so you may as well add them unless you want to keep the list to retailers rather than OEMs (although looking at the list, you've got a couple of OEMs on there already).

how good is a 600Watt PSU bought on ebay for less than 20 bucks and preforms OK?

Realistically, probably good for about 200-250W, provided you don't care about having any protections.
