Question about upgrading computer

Hello all,

I was thinking about upgrading my computer in the near future (getting Windows 7) and was wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions as to what I should focus on. Here are my specs:

MB: Asus P6T
CPU:Intel Quadcore i7 920 2.67 ghz
RAM: G.Skill 6gb ddr3 (only recognizing 3gb b/c of XP)
GPU: ATI Raedeon 4870 series (512 mb)
PSU: Corsair 750TX 750W

I was thinking my GPU, but it has been a while since I've bought computer parts. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Sorry, I should have said this. I'm already getting a new SSD and Monitor (I've already picked those out). My GPU is on there, I believe.

I've got about $400, but I'd be willing to spend anywhere up to $500 if it is going to last.

The 6950 is a good card in its price range.

I'd get a HD 6870, Windows 7 Home Premium x64, then when sandy bridge arrives in Jan buy a new [LGA1155] motherboard ($100-$200) and RAM (dirt cheap).

I assume your i7 is the older C0 stepping due to the outdated GPU, right?

Get a 6950 and unlock it a 6970:

Should I stick with ATI? I've never really gone with NVIDIA before and I've always been curious

ATI is fine. A 6870 is pretty good card. If you want to jump to the next level. The 6950 or 6970.
