question about using a usb hub

i have a 7 port usb hub and although only 4 of the slots are used on it so far I was wondering if its okay to use it without its dc power jack lead as i have seemed to have lost it. the power is coming to it completely through the computer. Will my computer blow up or be fine if i use it like this?
 
It should be fine, but if you want to charge USB devices (mp3 players etc) it probably won't be enough power to charge them.
 
You won't blow up your pc with the super low current level seen on a usb bus. The problem besides what holdenssx has described in part would be adding more devices whether for charging or not and seeing the current level drop too low. Your devices would then start to see problems with not being able to run. Without the dc adapter the use of another port would be advised if you intend on adding anything further. Replacement of the adapter if not the hub+adapter should be considered.
