Question about video adapter converting

I have a hdmi port on my computer is it possible to take a hdmi male to dvi female adapter and plug it into that then take a male dvi to female vga adapter and plug it into the first adapter than connect vga monitor to the female vga port? Its my understanding that you cannot take a vga source and plug it into a hdmi display but you can take a hdmi souce and display it on a vga display. Is this true?

im plugging this into the HDMI source of my computer then im plugging this into the first adapter then plugging my vga monitor cord into the second adapter

hey rockdude you can buy hdmi to vga converters, one end is hdmi, other end vga, this will solve your problem.

why would you want to do that?

HD is basically the Resolution.

anything that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 is HD.

So the question is, would you really notice such a difference?
