Question about which RAM is better...

Ok so I'm getting THIS mobo and need to decide on RAM.

I'm wondering if it would be better to have 8gb of DDR2 800 or 4gb of DDR2 1066 since they will be about the same price...

I've already got candidates for both categories so as soon as someone confirms which is better I'll post the stuff I've been looking at and you guys can check it out and see if it's ok?
 
I would certainly say 4GB of the pc-8500 (1066mhz)

But, I don't wanna be accused of telling people the wrong thing or being told I don't know anything so we'd better wait for other people that know everything to help us...
 
What do you mean you can get 8GBs of DDR2-800 or 4GBs of DDR2-1066 for about the same price... you mean per GB, or the whole set? If both sets cost about the same, get 8GB.

I tell you, as long as the timings are reasonable and you have your RAM in dual channel, DDR2-1066 will give absolutely no performance gains over DDR2-800 in any real-life applications (benchmarks are another thing). As for timings, I can't see what the mobo is right now but AMD CPUs are more sensitive to latencies than Intel CPUs, so if you have an Intel CPU with at least 2MBs of cache, even timings won't matter much.
 
lol the cpu is an E7200 with 3mb of cache

4gb of 1066 is about 100 bucks while 8gb of 800 is about 50 for each 4gb set (2 sticks each so I would order 2)

here's some ideas for the 800...any of them look decent? What are good brands? These are Kingston, OCZ, and Corsair. All ~50$ after rebate.

LINK 5-4-4-15 CAS 5 (The best right?) [however it's 2.1v which would mean less room for OC right?]
LINK 5-5-5-18 CAS 5 [1.8v]
LINK 5-5-5-18 CAS 5 [1.9v]

In that case, definitely go 8GBs. I would, at least... you do have a 64-bit operating system, right?

Anyways, out of the links you gave post...I can't view them right now, because I'm speedlimited for 5 more days (too much downloads grr), but OCZ and Corsair are definitely high-performance brands. Make sure the latencies are no more than 5-5-5-15, I would recommend 4-4-4-15 or lower. And... that's just about it. Timings and clockspeed are the two most important factors that affect performance of RAM.

also right now I'm running 32bit XP but when my new build is complete it's going to be 64bit Vista (I know about the 32bit RAM limit)

Well I really like the first one...however the rebate has horrible restrictions. It has to be postmarked within 14 days of purchase...that's not very long to receive it and test it...the second link has the same rebate. The third link however gives 21 days...but is that extra week really worth giving up the better timings?
