Question bout a GPU

Hi guys i'm new here, just have to ask, about a particular GPU
the PC HD4770 512MB GDDR5. now my question is whats the GDDR5?? whats its meaning and what does it do?? also since my Motherboard is ECS A780GM-A which supports DDR2 RAM and PCI-E 2.0, will that particular GPU work on my motherboard or am I just going to waste my money? P.S. I'm using a 500Wattage PSU I'm going to upgrade it to a better one, would you guys suggest a BRAND name for the PSU so I can check it up. Thanks!:D
 
GDDR5 (Graphics Double Data Rate, version 5) is a form of high performance memory designed for applications with high bandwidth. In english this means that GDDR5 can move/handle data to GPU memory quickly.

Sorry, I didn't answer that question fully; yes it should work with your pcie 2.0 slot because they are backwards compatible with the pci express 2.0 x16

it will work on my PCI-E 2.0 x16 ok, but I heard that my Motherboard has DDR2 RAM and the GPU has GDDR5, will it have any problems at all?? and also if I'm going to upgrade my GPU that means I have to upgrade my monitor, I'm thinking of buying a 16" or 17" Samsung 733NW 1440x900 monitor, is it a good monitor for the said particular GPU?? and also will this brand of PSU be good??? CoolerMaster EX 500w?? or this one Acbel AB-R8II 650w?? Thanks for answering my Questions!

GPU RAM and system RAM don't effect each other. as long as you have a PCI-E x16 slot and a sufficient power supply the card will work.
 
256 bit and 128 bit

ok it should work then, i have another question about the 128 bit and 256 bit, i know it has something to do with the pixel or color, now how do I know which one should I get the 256 or the 128 bit and will the 16" Samsung 632/633NW 1366x768 work with the 256 bit?
 
256 and 128 bit have nothing to do with color. It is talking about the memory bandwidth. So basically all you need to know about that is bigger the better.
 
Ok then! so in summary the PC HD 4770 will work on my A780GM-A Motherboard and the GDDR5 wont cause any problems nor the 128 bit or 256bit. last question which GPU should I get cuase some of my friends are suggesting "get NVIDIA" the others are saying "Get ATI" so in ur suggestion wich GPU is better??
 
it all comes down to what your familiar with, generally speaking nvidia has had better drivers, as far as im concerned but right now ati has faster hardware...so if you want a potentiality faster but buggier card, go ati, if you want a stable yet slower card, go nvidia, also lately with the 5k series of cards, they are also more power efficient.
