Question for OMEGA ?

What are you using to cool your Q6600 and what kind of temps are you seeing while overclocking ? I'm looking at buying a quad either the Q9450 or one of these ( Q6600 or Q6700 ) on April 20th when prices drop. I'm mainly looking at say an overclock of 3.4 to 3.6 with either on air cooling. I currently use a Zalman 9700 at the moment. What's your opinion on the cooling and price vs performance of these quads? Thanks for any advice.

yea, PM him. find a post by im and click on his name. :D

Sorry guys thought it would be easier this way and I didn't know that he got rid of his computer. Any one else that has a Q6600 care to advise?

I was using an Apogee GTX, which was part of my custom water cooling setup. IIRC I was getting temps in the high 20's to low 30's idle, and mid to high 40's under load when I had the Q6600 @ 3.8GHz.

Thanks OMEGA, I thought maybe you were using air and I could get some comparison to it cause I'll be on air . Thanks for the reply.

i run a q6600 at 3.15ghz on stock volts and 30c idle 35 - 40c under load, All on air cooling ultima-90 HSF

yeah forget ask jeeves

ask omega LOL.

umm i got a question on the q6600 if its not overclocked what temp is it originally with a nice cpu fan on it without a stock fan but like a good fan that you would recommend that keeps it cool at stock speeds?

This should be the "Ask Omega" thread. :D

It's hard to say since it depends on the cooler and what the ambient temp is. I'd say the most ideal would be 20-30C idle, and 35-45C load, although you are perfectly fine even if the CPU reaches 60C load.
