Question on upgrading ram memory

I just purchased an ACER 11.6 inch Netlap computer. It came with 2 GB of Ram. It can be upgraded to 4 GB of Ram. Approximately how much will the additional 2 GB of ram cut by battery time before recharging is needed. And will I be able to see a real time change in speed.

Thanks for any help

I have no specific knowledge of your question - but generally speaking - I don't think RAM is a significant power consuming part like your processor, display, or GPU.

I would guess it takes some energy but that it's negligible.

You would notice a difference in the time it takes the computer to startup and shutdown and you would notice a difference in the performance of programs.

thanks guys

I do know that the area were the ram lives on the boards gets very hot. The more heat the more energy used. So I figure twice the ram will produce twice the heat, and twice the heat means twice the battery energy depletion.

I am wondering if the added speed by adding the additional 2 GB will be worth the lose in battery time before having to recharge. Of course if the plug is in it would not matter.

Any thoughts on this
