Question Regarding i7

Is i7 really worth buying if i have my Q9650 when i mainly focus on gaming? I dont care for anything other than gaming... Any idea?

Edit: I'm thinking about the newest i7, not the extreme edition.
 
Anyone? .. Will there be any fps difference from Q9650 to the latest i7 in for instance Metro 2033 or Just cause 2?
 
there may be but in order to upgrade you would have to get a new motherboard to get the right socket for the i7. I wouldn't bother with the upgrade.
 
I dont think its a worthy upgrade to be honest from what you already have.

Yeah it may perform better....but like ive said many times before,What is it that your current system cant do right now and still give fantastic results?...

Im still on a Q6600 here....still rips through everything i throw at it with ease.
 
thanks for the replies. I wont upgrade and rather wait for the octa core, because like you said i would need to change mobo etc.. :)

Unless you can manage a truly epic video card setup, you'll see very little FPS increase.

My plan for now is to buy 480.. then wait 4 months and sli another 480. Then after some months after than i'll probably buy a new Mobo and cpu, ram etc.. I just hope everything last that long so i dont need to buy and use money on something else. takes a lot of time to save up for such expensive hardware.. especially the video card. Mobo is o.k, but the new cpu's are damn expensive too.. everything is..
