Question Regarding Ram Timings

Does Higer Ram timings always decrease performance? Or is it more into it?.. I recently switched from 5-5-5-15 to optimal which was higher. And idea?
 
As StrangleHold said, lower timings are better but you also have to look at RAM speed. If your timings choices are 5-5-5-15 @ 800MHz or 9-9-9-27 @ 2000MHz which is better? You have a lot more cycles you can burn without really noticing it on the 2000MHz

I found a nice spot at "Sync-mode" for the ram mhz and 5-5-5-12. I went from 11.3 sec in SuperPi to 10.4 sec.. I also increased my ram voltage to 2.3 instead of 2.2v.

When i tried 4-4-4-12 i got bsod after 10 sec in win7.
 
Not all DDR2 can run 4-4-4 at high frequencies, the BSOD likely means you've overclocked too far.
 
I agree, 4-4-4-12 on that memory with 2.1V stock already is pretty aggressive without really pumping up the voltage or lowering the mhz.

how much memory voltage do you think i would need for 4-4-4-12? Just an estimate because i know that varies..
 
Can you post the exact model number or your RAM? Corsair makes a lot of DDR2, the PC8500 stuff I've found so far is listed at 7-7-7.
