Question regarding reformating..

Hi, I have a Dell and I am considering reformating it. If I do, will everything be completely deleted? For example, Mocrosoft Word and Internet Explorer. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Any other suggestions on ways to clean out my computer without the deletion of important things like Word and Explorer are all welcome.

Format involves completely removing all data on the HDD. You won't even hae Windows installed anymore.

You can defrag to get back some lost space, and less clutter on the HDD. Deleting unnecessary apps is also a good start.

As in deleting you mean going to My Computer and removing programs?

yup go to my computer and then go to add/or remove programs and click the remove one and you can unistall programs that you dont want or dont use anymore.

Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs

usually. Just make sure EVERYTHING related to the program is removed. After a program uninstall i like to run CrapCleaner (google it) and get rid of left behind garbage. Then defrag your harddrives.

What does 'defrag' mean? I know, I'm dumb. T.T

it rearranges files and puts them back where they are found. it saves space and makes things run faster. go to my computer>local disk C>right click on it>go to tools then defragmentation and that will defrag your harddrive.

Whenever I try to run CrapCleaner an Error Report comes up. 'CCleaner has encountered a poblem and needs to close. We are sorry for thi sinconvenience.' T.T

Does defrag delete anything, or just move files around?

Thanks,
Derek
And renegade, try reinstalling crapcleaner.

defrag does not delete anything it just moves and organizes the files.
