It is essential to upgrade the drivers for all my parts when they come out?

Or it is okay just to keep using the drivers i was using when i built my PC.

Does it effect my performance at all?

I'm asking because i still use the ones i downloaded when i bought my computer. :P

EDIT: I also meant the BIOS.

It really does depend, as I understand most driver updates are in regards to bug fixes. Although I'm sure there are quite a few driver updates that deal with getting more performance out of the given piece of hardware.

for peripherals that rarely get driver updates, it is good to get the newest. For things like gfx cards that have updates on a frequent and regular basis, it is okay to fall behind. Graphics drivers are usually only updated to support newer and newer cards, if your card has no performance issues that need to be fixed, a newer driver will probably not help. Right now I am using the 175.19 nvidia forceware drivers, which they are well past that now. If you have no problems with your hardware, a driver update is usually not necessary unless the newer driver indicates that it increases performance.
