I just put a new video card in my PC (ATI Radeon 9250 256mb PCI-E) and now when I boot up, my monitor stays off until it gets to the XP Log in screen. I do not see the initial screen with the boot menu options nor do I see the Windows XP loading screen.

I went into the Hardware menu and disabled the onboard video card and even uninstalled any old software from my previous VC. I am able to see everything normally if I plug the monitor into the non-video card plug but doing this sends me to a screen asking which OS I want to boot, XP Prof or XP Prof. Picking either or waiting the 30 seconds sends me to safe mode.

I used to have an old GeForce 64mb card and it did the same thing with that. Figured the new card would take care of the problem but alas, it did not. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would be GREATLY appreciative. Thanks~

I uninstalled old drivers but it was after I installed the ones for my new card. The only problem is that it was doing this before I got the new card.

try getting the latest driver, and do you have 2 portions of windows professional? if you do and dont need the other one just keep 1 windows and that might fix it otherwise try as other suggested setting it as pci-express only, and get the latest drivers and delete your old ones

No offense or anything, but I doubt new drivers are needed during POST or anything like that... Only in Windows...

Can you even get to CMOS?
