I'm looking at getting a new hard drive right now, and i'm just wondering if it's a must to go to SATA rather than just the regular Ultra ATA connections. Does it really make that much of a difference in speed or is it just better to stay with the old style. Comments, advice, thoughts?

yes, sata is still a little bit faster than even ultra ata, but anything ata is going to be cheaper. since theres hardly a difference in price however, you should just go sata.

Just make sure that your motherboard supports SATA drives. Make sure you have SATA ports on your motherboard or you will have to buy a pci card made for SATA.

yea, go SATA just because each hard drive gets its own channel. tomshardware.com said sata isnt that much of an improvement though, but since SATA hard drives cost just as much almost, then just get a SATA. thats what ive always done.
also, it depends on what you're doing. id say SATA is better for video editing, especially when you see a "loading" screen. lol

Ok, thanks a lot, I was planning on going with it but just needed some other opinions on the matter.
