Hello everyone I need some information on making the connection to the internet at my house wireless:
I know that to do that you need to have a wireless router, so I want to know how the router works and if I need anything else...:confused:
I use:
Rogers High speed internet (shows 100Mbps) the one with external modems...

P.S. I may be considered a total noob in the subject of computers:( because i never really studied anything about them so try to explain clearly...
 
Another thing:
Does it matter which router you use?
If yes could you recommend a good one?
if you use the wireless network adaptor for two computers does the make of both adapters have to be the same?

It matters which router you're using. I'm assuming your just using it to share a connection for web surfing. What's a price range you're looking at?
 
I just need the router because i am bought a new computer for myself and i need internet on it and the other computer has to have it too but I only have 1 place in the house for internet connection:(
I probably just need it for surfing..
I have no idea how much they can cost, I saw some on ebay for like 20-30 dollars but i dont know if thats a lot or not

If you use a wireless network adaptor that looks like a usb stick does it just transmit the signal or you need an antenna(like it says on the microsoft site you gave me)?

And if you use the adaptors do they have to be the same make as the router?

Whats the difference between a router and a firewall router?

How does it matter(the router)?

20-30 bucks is not a lot for a router, and I bet you'll get what you pay for with one of those (not very much;)) I'd say to get a good router you'll pay upwards of $50-75.

USB adapter have an antenna built in, so no, you don't need an external one.

Adapters do not need to be the same company as the router.

You don't really need a firewall router just for sharing a home connection.

And could you suggest a good company for a router or adapters?
