Hi guys,
This is my first post and I didn't know where to post this.
I'm having some problems with my computer and I can't seem to source the problem. So I'll start by giving you the system specs.

Intel core 2 duo e6300 @ 1.86ghz
1GB ddr2 ram @ 533 mhz
320 gb western digital hdd in SATAII
nVidia GeForce 7600 GS 256 MB
Gigabyte GA-945PL-S3 Rev 1.0 mobo
Pioneer 111-D dvd Burner.
450W Psu

Just to tell you straight out, It isn't the PSU I borrowed my mates PSU which is a 650W silverstone and it still didn't kick over.

My computer will not do anything when turned on, no fans spin, no noises of hard drives starting or beeping, no leds coming on, nothing..
I just got it back from being fixed as a latch on the fan was broken causing it to do the same thing. I would like to know any opinions and also any kind of tests I can do to some of my hardware in order to source the problem and fix it asap.

The most obvious thing to note from the problem seen there is a hardware failure on the board namely the board itself. Without any signs of life you wouldn't hear any beep codes to point at the video card or memory. Besides the main chipset and bios "bad caps" in other words bad capacitors are one of the main reasons. Inspect the board carefully along with reviewing the user manual to recheck all power connections as well as looking over the board for any discoloration or bulged caps.

The wires from the front panel could simply have been plugged onto the wrong pins! In other words you will have to look over "everything" since you have the system there. Who did the repair work? Was the service under any type of warranty? If so you know who to complain to! Desktop Computers is the usual place while some are found elsewhere depending on the type of problems.
 
Well, I also cleared the cmos because a couple of people said that may be the problem however it wasn't. My mate built the computer for me, and took it back to the place where he bought all the parts from. They Fixed it, however they didn't hook the board up right, leaving the cpu fan unplugged causing my processor to cook. I fixed that within 5 mins so I don't think there could be any damage to the processor. I'll look over the board, and pull everything apart to find the problem. There is a warranty on the board so if worse comes to worse, the board will get replaced.
 
First go over the board's diagram and other things the manual instructs on setting up the board to spot check mainly the smaller wires coming out from the front panel for power, power led. hard drive led, reset button, etc. to see if those are on the correct pins. Those you simply follow out and look at the letters on the mini-plugs to compare to the areas on the board where you note that each pair or set is in a different color section. Audio input/output jacks and front usb ports if any are often found on a second small block of pins somewhere near by.
 
All that is already connected, the power switch/led/hdd led/front usb/front audio jacks are all plugged in. No discolouration or bulging caps were found. The build is only 10 weeks old or so. Also changed over the graphics cards and still no difference. Cleared CMOS a couple of times. Also swapped over ram and still no sign of life. Getting it taken back to distributor tomorrow in the hopes for a new board because it seems like the one i have is good as dead.

I would check the processor, 5 minutes without cooling is a pretty long time! they get hot quick.

I think you are being forced to look at the board there as the most likely problem. If the cpu or another item like memory or video card goes the board will chirp at you with a specific set of beeps like one long two short usually for a video card problem or one long one short as well as others for memory with constant beeps or a visual message like "cpu failure" being seen onscreen. When a bios eprom goes doa or the battery on the board goes early the system will simply fail to see anything.
 
Got the comp back today, Motherboard was faulty, they also checked the ram and graphics card for errors, cpu had damage so they replaced it as well.. now its working as good as ever
 
You may never know which went bad first the board or the cpu. On one system where the cpu went it looked like a bad board. When someone rushed to put the cpu in on another board that went "poof"! The problems seen there did point at the board while both were not so good. Hopefully that was covered under some type of dealer warranty.
