So I'm not a major gamer, but I play one or two from time to time. I bought my previous computer about 9 years ago, gateway laptop, 2.26ghz duo core two, GeForce 9800m dedicated graphics card. And it's done well. However it's starting to break down, battery port is broken and battery falls out, loose connection to power cord, speakers are fuzzy, overheats, shuts down, hard drive gave out, have tried to keep it together, but on Guild Wars 2, it overheats, shuts down, stutters, and now it's begun locking up on a regular basis. To fix everything is just not worth it at this point. So, my GF got me a new gaming desktop, nothing fancy but light years ahead of my laptop.
I ended up getting a Lenovo X315 w; A8-7600, R9 360 graphics, a hybrid drive, new monitor and bose speakers. Not a bad step up from where I was. My question is, why did they include an "upgraded" R9 with my computer instead of the standard R7? From my understanding, the processor has a graphics card attached and with crossfire could run as a type of dual graphics with an R7 card, with the R9, the graphics portion of the processor is turned off and I'm running dedicated off the R9 card only. Am I crazy or could they have gone with an FX 4150 or 6300 and the R9 and had a faster system, or gone with an R7 card and run the A8 processor as intended with crossfire and lost little to no gaming performance? I just don't understand the logic of the R9 card with this specific processor. Still runs well for me, much faster than what I had..just seems illogical. Anyone have an opinion on the reason?
