Questions about RAM

Hi! I am planning on buying:http://no.msi.com/product/nb/GE60-0NC.html
I believe it is coming with 8GB RAM with 2 available slots. Lets say the speed of the original speed is 1333 Hz and I decide to buy 2 new RAM with the speed of 1866 Hz. Does it matter if there is difference in speed? Also does the brand of the RAM matter? Last: is it worth installing 8 extra GB when it costs 600 Norwegian Kroners, approximately 100 USD?

Thanks in advance! :D

I personally wouldn't bother upgrading to 16GB unless you absolutely need it, 8GB is more than enough.

The brand shouldn't matter so long as your are buying the correct DIMM type and speeds for the laptop, and yeah you can probably add two 1866MHz DIMMs but you will still only be running at 1333MHz because you will still have the two 1333MHz DIMMs installed. You can only go as fast as the slowest DIMM.

Really? I thought higher RAM would make it faster :o Ah, so if I want faster speed I must replace the original ones too :o All right, thanks for the help! :P

Yeah you'll have to replace all 4 sticks but I'm not sure if 1866MHz will work. You might want to download the manual for that laptop from MSI's site and see what it says about memory compatibility.

Meh, that's way unpractical, so think I'm going to drop that idea :) Checked that, it is capable of upto 1600 Hz. Since we're already talking about this. Is there anything else besides installing a SSD that can make the computer faster? Not such as changing CPU or GPU, but simple installations such as SSD ;o
