Questions about SLi's dual chipset??

Hi i Have a Question about that SLi dual video card thing??
any1 have any info on how it works..et..etc..or a link would
be nice.
Also if some 1 would be nice enough to give there own thoughts
on this crazy looney invention..

At this point in time, with cards as powerful as the 7800GTX, SLI is a huge waste of money. If you have a top end card like that and your other hardware is on par, in terms of performance, as the 7800gtx (cpu, ram, etc), you will be able to turn everything to the highest settings in the most demanding games and have no loss of fps. SLI, at this point in time, is good for nothing more than bragging rights, IMO.
 
yea after more reading on that topic i realized instead of waisting 1200 on 2 graphix cards id rather buy a top of the line mobo..

My thoughts : For the price, it's not worth it. You're better off buying a higher powered card instead of 2 of the same card. If you cna afford $1200 on 2 SLi'd 7800GTX's or something, I would still suggest you jsut get ONE card, and save the money left over for the next card that will be released.

which two cards cost $1200?? you can get a 7800gtx for like 500.

500+500=1000.......not 1200.

Retail I believe they were closer to $600 or more when they came out, but yes now you can find them cheaper since they've been out. Simply a comparison, even $1000 is outrageous for graphics. I could build an entire high performance machine with that cash, or 2 mid range machines on that alone.
 
at bestbuy.com they are 599.99 plus S/H so ur looking at like 620 Each :(

yea true that for a thousand you can build a decent comp.

and your saying that 7800gtx can be found for 500?
because i was about to pay 450 for 7800gt..

and in you'r guys' opinion..should i buy the 7800 gtx if its roughly 500 bux?
oh BtW im planing on getting SLi mobo..idk wich 1 yet..
 
well.. but i think getting another 6800GT isnt a waste of monney,. so im quite pleased with it. i dont want to buy a 7800GTX. but for about $200 - 250 i can get another 6800GT, wich brings me back on high end status :P
 
BTW...what company should i get it by?
because i noticed there are a couple of companies that make this..
i was thinking of bfg but then again they are the most expensive
at (460Mhz and 1300MHz on the memory) for $529.99
but the NVIDIA is cheaper..499.99
and its 490MHz and 1300 memory)

some 1 mind explaining to my why this is?

Probably nice software bundles and, perhaps, a lifetime warranty.
