Questions about some computer stuff

Hey guys its been a LONG time since i have built a performance computer. Last one i built were for parents on a budget and it was a crappy Pentium D dual core 3.4 it was slow. Now i am building my own computer, for gaming. But since i am been out of the loop for a while i need some help/Advice..

First off is SLI worth the Extra money?
Is it worth getting a mother board with DDR3? (I heard it still is to far ahead)
Does the mother board have to say SLI in title for it to be SLI? (ex if it has 2 2.0 PCI Express ports can you SLI them?)

I know what processor i am getting Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz is fine for me. Quad core is overkill anyways with games.

Some mother board specs i am looking at

PCI Express 2.0 is a must (Know its worth the extra money)
DDR 800 Compared or DDR 1200 vs. DDR3 which one is the best?
I am kinda broke but i want a good motherboard, just not want to overpay for one. One is 130 another 320.

wtf is the difference between SLI and "Ultra SLI?

The motherboards i am considering the most.

I would appreciate some input thanks..

ok in most cases sli depends on the card but most of the time when u have 2 cards in sli you will most likely get about 40-50% increase not double the power so its up 2 you if u want that or maybe spend a lil more on a better card.

as for dd3 goes. its just a matter of time befor dd3 is standard juslt like dd2 was the new shit back in the day ppl still hadd ddr then ddr2 was stander and ddr3 was sorta in. its hard to just find ddr sticks ne more for cheap.

also ddr2 has lower latencey atm than ddr3. so i would recomend it b/c its just a matter of time b4 its standard.

yes the mother board needs to be sli rdy to run sli.

hope this helps

If you just keep buying new graphic cards every year or so (Or when games become slow) then it would just make sense buying a newer model right?

I will get DDR3 Ram then..

Is SLI really worth the extra 135 dollars for the motherboard? Most time 2 SLI Video cards for games are overkill anyways right?

Thanks
