no you won't lose all your files, (it depends) some hard drives adjust to the change (new hardware) and boots off successfully, while others fail to boot and give errors, but to solve the matter it's better to repair than format.is it true that if you take out the motherboard as well as the other parts but keep the same HDD, you'd still lose all your files?
so what did you guys do anyways, did you format ? if yes, you lose everything.he kept his old HDD but eventually lost his files
again, depends, like i said if you just put your HD with the new mobo, it can boot or it may not but you don't lose anything, unless you format itdoes the OS get erased as well?
nah. he had his rig upgraded by the staff where he bought his parts. we didn't touch it.
