Questions about Windows 2000

I put together a new computer with no OS. But I do have Windows 2000 on an old hard drive that still works. I do not have the CD's but I do have the CD key for it. What would be the easiest way to do this. Making the boot cd's appears to be time consuming but I can buy them. Will buying boot cd's work? I could also buy an OS but on the cover it says that the OS is "for distribution for Dell computers". Will this work or must it be a Dell? I don't want to buy a full version OS if I can get Windows 2000 working from the HD which will be put in the new computer also. Thank You for any help!

just buy a normal windows 2000 cd from your stores mate

you will be able to install yes but the cd-key will be a poblem

I see you're still having problems getting the PC to work properly.
Try putting the 4gig back in the old PC and boot it up if it will.
Go out on the net with it, do a Google search for a program called "jellybean keyfinder", download it, open it, and it will show you what the key is for the Win2000 install. Write it down.
Where and how you find a Win2000 disk is up to you, but you can boot the new PC to the Win2000 disk and use the repair option. Use the key you wrote down when the repair dialog asks for it.
Of course, it might be easier to buy WinXP at your favorite retailer.

Don't think they sell win 2000's anymore.

The only cool fact about win 2000 is that they don't have the security of the XP's. So, even if your version of the win 2000 is pirated, you would still be able to have updates.
