Questions regarding Upgrading GFX card

Hi, I'm currently looking to upgrade my graphics card but I'm totally lost

These are my current specs :

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+
1 GIG [Upgrading to 4gig]

And graphics card is an 8400 GS.

Now I'm totally lost when it comes to graphics cards so here it is.

I'm looking for an affordable upgrade for $100 or less.

Any suggestions? I'm looking for a site that compares GFX cards by showing how much FPS per game, but finding no luck.

Thanks in advance

Okay, thank you for the replies. I think I may have found the one I want.

Now I have some questions about this.

1) will it fit my current Mobo? EDIT : Sorry, my motherboard is a Giga-Byte GA-m57SLI-S4

2) Will I have enough power to run it?

3) Is it a good card? I'm reading the reviews and everyone is real happy with it. The only con I see a lot is that it's long so I'm hoping I can fit it in my computer.

***For my PSU.. these are the numbers I'm reading on the side of it.

AC -115V -10A 60Hz 230V 5A 50Hz
DC +3.3V +5v +12v1 +12v2 -12V +5VSB
MAX 34A 40A 16A 17A 0.8A 2.5A

The link doesn't show a product

eVGA 9600 GT. $84.99 after MIR. Also take a look at the 9800 GT. It doesn't cost much more and will perform better than the 9600.

Yes. You can even pair another for SLi in the future.

2) Will I have enough power to run it?

The specs you posted in your edit are incomplete. Can you provide the total watt output of your PSU, or provide the model name and number?

The 9800GT would be better. Which case do you own?

Sorry, this is the one I had linked
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130334

It says Max Output 500w. Performance Power ATX 2.0
In () next to the AC numbers is (+3.3V +5 Total 250W)

As for my case, I have this

An Apevia X-Jupiter Jr. Mid Tower.

Please ask for more information if needed. And I'm sorry for the lack of information I may have posted.

The 9600 GT you linked is out-of-stock. I'd recommend this instead. It's factory overclocked and $99.99 after mail in rebate. Your power supply is sufficient, and the card will fit inside your case.

Wow awesome. Thanks a bunch. I really appreciate it. Just one thing. Is MSI a good company? I was told to stick with EVGA/BFK/XFX

I'm the same way. I've always purchased eVGA or XFX nVidia cards. Well, I'm not too familiar with MSI. I know that eVGA and XFX customer support is awesome, so if you'd rather go with them, take a look at these. The XFX model ships w/ COD4.

Hmm, I was reading up on the MSI one and people are saying this is one of their better cards they made. The price is also cheaper and it's Factory OC'd. Hmm, I guess I'll have to think about it. I guess I could look into all three.

Yeah, you may want to search Google on that particular card. About a year ago, I built my father a rig with a MSI motherboard and it's still working great. That's the only experience I've had with the company. Maybe some others here have had experience with the brand.

BTW, if you go with the XFX or eVGA model, you can always OC to the MSI clocks using eVGA Precision. Doesn't matter what brand you buy, so long as it's an nVidia card.

Wow, that would make my decision so much easier. I think I'm going to go with the XFX card. Now you say I can use that program even with the XFX Card? And although I'm not to keen on OCing my GFX card, I might have to give that a go since it seems pretty easy. I would just scroll the little scrolls to match the settings of the MSI one?

Yeah, that's right. The program is hella easy to use. You can control fan speed, clocks and set different profiles. You should be safe at the MSI clocks as long as you bump up the fan speed a little. I always try to keep my GPU load temps below 80*C.
