Hey folks,

I am buying a laptop and am in need of some quick advice.

Is the following laptop worth 1,140.00$? (For school/home use, not gaming)

- Acer TravelMate 4062LMi
(Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition)

- Mainboard: Mobile Intel 915GM Express / 533 MHz

- Processor: Intel Pentium M 1.73 GHz

- RAM: 512 MB DDR II SDRAM. Max. Memory Size: 2 GB

- Display: 15" / 1024 x 768 / 24-bit

- HDD: 60GB IDE

And would you prefer this one over the following?

- Toshiba Satellite Pro L20-102 (Win XP Pro)

- Mainboard: Mobile Intel 915GM Express / 533 MHz

- Processor: Intel Pentium M 1.73 GHz

- RAM: 512 MB DDR II SDRAM. Max. Memory Size: 2 GB

- Display: 15" / 1024 x 768 / 24-bit

- HDD: 60GB S-ATA

Thanks a lot!

Oh yeah, that offer is indeed more attractive, but sadly not available to me since I live in Denmark :(

Any thoughts on Acer vs. Toshiba in general?

I would stay away from ACER, It's not that it is a bad notebook, it is there are a lot better ones to get. They are also hard to get parts for. I would recomend an HP or Sony Vaio, actually the Dells are not that bad either.

Actually Acer is a pretty large company. Very big in Europe, Asia, and currently #1 in Canada. As for glossy screens, I prefer Acer screens better than HP/Compaq. The screens between the Acer & Toshibas are a toss up depending on model. The Qomio line has wonderful screens, but they're not the most portable of laptops. As for hardware, you'll get more bang for the buck... or should I say more bang for the Danish krone...
