Quick Build in January. Help

Seems in my Failure of upgrading my desktop, I managed to fry either the onboard video, or the entire MOBO, so I need to build a replacement SOON. I believe that I have everything figured out, but Please let me know if there is anything that can be better, or that is not compatible.

ASrock AM2/AM2+ mobo

Athlon X2 7850 2.8GHZ

GeForce 8400 GS 512MB

1GB DDR2 RAM

Samsung HDD

CPU Cooler

Case

I have no Need for the OS just yet, I am using Ubuntu until I get Win 7 Pro. I have a 500 watt ATX PSU (1 PCI plug, 24 pin main).
 
Edit. I can max out the Budget at 650 USD plus a monitor (maybe 2), But the build will have to take a couple of months to complete.

Upping the budget, I would love some pointers on where to go with a Graphics card, 4 or 6 core CPU, and a motherboard that supports that and DDR2 or DDR3 at 4 DIMMS.

How about this one? May be closer to modern tech and will suit my needs I think. Going Phenom for the L3 cashe that helps with multitasking IIRC. (Quad Core AM3)

Then in due corse will need a differant Mobo. MOBO It supports Crossfire for the future.

AM3 requires DDR3, so that will have to change too. RAM

Video with AMD HD6850

I see no reason that has presented as to why the OP HDD wouldn't work, so Ill stick with that.

How is this?? Still looking at Video. May add WIn 7 to it, depends on my mood at the time of order.
