Quick Fan Question?

Ok I want to put a few more fans inside of my PC, but I no longer have any power sources left, but I do have an open Molex connector from my power supply that I don't think I'm going to use. SO can I connect say 2 or so fans into the Red and Black wires of the connector or will I have issues? I don't really care about the sensor wire.
 
Have a bit more patience, it's only been 3 hours since you made this topic.

Firstly, the fans which come with a molex connecter, should also come with an extra one attached so you can put another one into it (kinda like a plug adapter for a plug socket).

Imagine the 3 pin connector in this image below is a fan, and coming from it is the molex connector. The other one is where you can plug another one into, it creates another socket ;)

Sorry patience is not a virtue of mine :) See I have a few fans here that Im not using and they have the little motherboard looking plug (no sure what it is called). What I want to do is cut that end off and splice it into the free power supply jack I have. I wonder if I can make one of those adapters
 
Oh... lol, wlel in that case, I wont be of any use. You'll need someone else who knows about the wires, etc... ;)
 
You could do that, but i wouldnt see why not spend like $5 and get a few of those adapters. So what exactly do you need help with?
 
not sure if you can. A fan has 2 wires, and a molex has 4 holes. So you wonder if you would plug to fans in there? well, you might, but you will need to know about electronics (wire, electric curent, etc).

Nope, try again.

Red=+5volt
Black=ground
Black=ground
Yellow=+12volt

Most likly, your fans wont operate at 5 volt, I dont feel like explaining the 7 volt mod. So just strip the molex and connect the fans positive to the yellow wire. And the negative to either black wire. Get some electrical tape and cover up the connections, all 4 of them (make sure none of them are touching each other). Stuff it back in your case, and your done.

Almost all my fans in my comp. have go though molex connectors. Saves me the hassle of buying a Y cable. I have one but thats a diff. story.
