Hey for the new system I am purchasing today I was planning on going a Q6600 for $309.
However, the computer store has thrown a spanner in the works by putting the Q8200 on special for $309. It is 2.33ghz as opposed to 2.4, has 4mb l2 cache compared with the Q6600's 8mb, its FSB is 1333mhz (Q6600 has 1066mhz), and the Q8200 is built in on the 45 nm tech whereas the Q6600 is 65 nm.

Which is better?!?!

Thanks for the help

Q8200
because its quad core, it will be slower for the time being because not many applications use all four cores, but in 2 years, most applications will use 4 cores so go with that one!

Q8200?
smaller, more efficient (cooler/less power)? Downside - DDR3, less L2.
Unless there has been a statement by software manuf. that they will support multi core CPU's by xxxx, then I'd go C2D if you don't need to use encoding/editing programs (photo/video & the like). I'll be doing a Quad since I need to edit HD footage.

Why's the price high? web shows those CPU's @ $189 USD.

For $300 USD CPU do i7 & up the mobo a bit
