Quick installation question

My heatsink came with some kind of bracket that it screws into, do I have to use that, or can I just stick it straight to the CPU?

This is the heatsink. Those screws don't come off, so if I don't mount the bracket, they just dangle there. If I do install the bracket at the bottom, it does not make alot of contact with the CPU.

There is a backplate for that cooloer, it gets mounted under the motherboard and then the screws get screwed through the motherboard into the backplate.

Pretty sure it comes with a backplate.
