Quick Question - 4890 or 5830?

OK another noobish question, I guess the answer is no but I need to make sure.

I'm looking at the GTX 460 that you reference, and the face plate is double the size of my single current rubbish graphics card - do I need a 'double size slot' at the back of my pc?

I'm assuming, given that there's space for the GTX 460 inside my computer, the face plate will fit too? I'm guessing this is a laughable question but I need to make sure!

Many Thanks

What case do you have?

It's a Dell Vostro 200 mini tower, my computer knowledgable father has arrived home and said it'll fit. If I have only 1x PCI-e 6 pin output from this PSU (got for £22), is it possible to get an adapter to make it 2x PCI-e 6 pins to power a GTX 460 (needs 2x 6 pins), or would I need a new PSU altogether?

You would need a new PSU. You should get an adapter, however I wouldn't personally trust a 460 with that PSU. CoolerMaster make some alright power supplies, but I would only trust the very good brands (SeaSonic, Corsair, some Antec etc) with a fairly power hungry card when you PSU itself is only throwing out 460W.

For your question about it fitting, I'm fairly sure the case you have will only accept low profile cards, which aren't as wide as your standard card, so you would also need a new case to fit it all in

=EDIT=

and looking at the inside of the system and the dimensions, length of the card would be a huge issue too, as would airflow

A gts450 would be the highest card I would suggest on the power supply you have, it's actually a very capable card for 1680x1050 as well. It only uses a single 6 pin connector.

Otherwise- New PSU with a gtx460.
