Okay currently Im running a gigabyte HD6870, I have the chance to get a xfx HD6870 for dirt cheap from a friend. I was wondering if I would be able to run them together and if so what would I need to do to make them run well.

These are my specs

Gigabyte 970a-d3 Motherboard
AMD Phenom II 955
Radeon HD 6870 Graphics
RAM Corsair 8gb 2x4
PSU : Antec 620w continuious power

If I can do it, how well would it work?

Thanks in advance

You'll need a new motherboard that supports CrossFire (Yours currently does not) and a stronger PSU (At least 750w).

Actually the PSU is fine, 48a on the 12v rail is plenty for a 955 and 6870 Xfire. Each 6870 would pull 13a max, and the 955 about the same. That leaves over 8 amps for anything else on the 12v rail, plenty.

But I agree it would be pointless on that board with a x4 second slot.

Also, OP do you really need 6870 Xfire? I got a single 6850 and it completely maxxes any game I play on 1080p. Now I have never played metro 2033 or skyrim, I heard they really push the cards but still, I'm sure they are plenty playable on medium settings which would still look fantastic from a graphics standpoint.
