Quick question about laptop memory!

Started noticing my laptop was running slower than normal. It just turned 4 years old but its still kickin. 64 bit, windows 7, and whats supposed to be 4gbs of ram. When I noticed it was running slower I looked in dxdiag and noticed on 2gb was showing up. Ran the memory check and nothing came up. Should I just go buy a 2gb or 4gb ram chip that'll work with my computer and give it a go? Hard drive still has plenty of space on it, no viruses or anything.

Have you checked the RAM to see if's it's "shaken" it's way out of the slot? You can typically access it through a panel on the bottom of your laptop (normally central and right next to the battery). Don't forget to ground yourself to prevent static discharge.

Also, you may benefit from cleaning up your system and removing unwanted programs + hidden malware. CCleaner and Malwarebytes are great for this.
I know you said it doesn't have any viruses, but it doesn't hurt to give it another go with a trusted application :)
