Alright guys im working on a computer that belongs to a guy i go to school with, its an hp and he had someone work on it before and whoever did wiped the recovery partition, and installed xp pro instead of home. My question is he supplied me with a legit Xp Home CD there has to be a program out there that would allow me to make a recovery partition like hp where he could just run the certain program and it would install the os from the recovery partition.

Isn't that like cloning partitions then restoring them when the system becomes corrupt? What is your question? I don't see a sentence that could be an answerable question related to your topic and usefulness...

^^ ignore the spammer.

I think you have to install with the actual install disk HP gave you to create a recovery partition.

HP has their own set of tools to make a recovery DVD/CD off the recovery partition. Also for a small nominal fee you can also order the disks from HP directly for your model.

yes i know i could, but i was more curious if anyone knew of any way else basically so i could use it more often, my own pcs, like i said i found acronis True image and its pretty good allows you to run recovery before even getting into windows, also found a couple guides for a few other various ways.
