i have a p45 platinum and was wondering if these would be compatible:

x2 Dominator XMS2 - Corsair DDR2 pc2-8500 1066Mhz
8GB Corsair Vengeance Blue (2X4GB) DDR3 1600 PC12800

INNO3D NVIDIA Geforce GT 630 4GB PCI Express x16
GALAXY Technology NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 1gb

if these dont fit can anyone please help me find some decent upgrades.

That board supports two PCI-E x16 and DDR2 memory so it is compatible. So it is Dominator XMS2 and GT 630. But why you using such old board and what CPU do you have?

um its a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz. the only reason why im using it, ive had it for ages and its been sitting around.

im only using this board coz ive had it for ages and to broke to buy any decent boards (unless u can suggest any cheap, reliable ones)

ive had my eye on MSI Motherboard Z77A-GD65 Core i7 Z77 LGA1155 for a while but itll take to long to save the money up for the rest of the parts hahaha

so all the ram/graphics card i mention will all fit and would all that make a substantial difference?

What are you looking to do with the machine? The Q6600 is old, no question, but for gaming that thing can still get you by if you've got a decent graphics card on ya. As for whether those part make a difference, it depends on what you're upgrading from. What GPU/RAM do you have now? Any at all?

wow i didn't realize it was that old. yeah gaming is what i want it for but if im going to upgrade i may as well upgrade the old parts.

it only had a generic 2x 1gb ram in it and 1 died so its only running on 1gb of ram with windows 7 ultimate lmao, yeah pretty shit!

ok ive got between 3-600 bucks can anyone please help me get some upgrades completed :).

What kinda games?

It might be worth just getting a decent GPU if the games aren't particularly CPU intensive. Depending on how heavy/well threaded the games are, the old quad core might hold out just fine - I've got a machine with a first-generation 2.1GHz Phenom X3 and it handles a bit older titles like Assassins Creed and CoD4 beautifully (and I know that whatever hiccups I have I get because I have a measley HD5750 driving a 1900x1080 monitor and I usually keep the settings pretty high), and the Q6600 will easily beat out that poor three-legged spider. No point in throwing out a good machine if it handles the job well.

As for what particlar GPU to get, well... I don't know. Hopefully someone who does shows up...

I say the Q6600 is still a good processor.
I run it with a 6850 1GB in a secondary PC and it's not bottlenecking in BF3, which is CPU happy.

yeah cool im always upto date with the latest games.

it already has the GALAXY 430 in it but i would rather upgrade the card coz that one is fairly old. i dont know what the difference between having 1 or 2 cards in so that would be helpful.

i def finally have to get ram coz atm its sloggy as **** but is the 8GB Corsair Vengeance Blue (2X4GB good enuff

Yeh it's good stuff. As for the graphics card, I wouldn't bother with something like the 630 - I would look at getting at least a 660 or equivalent on AMD's side (7850 I think, someone better make sure for me, I'm a GPU noob). What resolution do you play at? Also, what power supply do you have? A new GPU might require a new PSU.

EDIT: If you get two cards, both the cards and the motherboard have to support SLI if you plan on running them in tandem to combine the processing power. I don't know if your board or those GPUs do, though. It's generally better to just get a beefier single GPU.

im sure how much watts the psu has but its got n11360 on it so i assume its 360watts.

the resolution is running at 1360 x 768 (using a hd tv)

ive had a quick look at the 7850 (PowerColor ATI HD7850 2GB) and the only thing i noticed is that the Bus Standard is PCIE 3.0 and im pretty sure the p45 is only 2.0 i have no idea if this will work, im a complete noob.
- and that was the cheapest 1 on ebay for $250

p.s cheers heaps for this to broo

Yeh PCIE is backwards compatible, it'll work. Where are you ordering from though? Here in Aus the 7850 start at ~$220, if you're in the US $250 is definitely a bit high.

Also, no way is a 360 watt PSU going to power that card - you'll have to grab a new one of those as well. A 500+ Watt Corsair CX or Antec Neo Eco would be good - there are others too, Silverstone I hear is good, but I really don't know what models to suggest.

hey sorry for the long reply...im from aust as well i was only looking thru ebay.

yeah dang about the psu but uh well they are about $80 right?

oi btw i have a problem...i went out n got generic ram (x2 2gb) just to get by and both seem to work by themselves but when u try and put both in it'll restart within 20 seconds of turning it on. i tried all four slots and only 1 works um is this because my ram slots are ****ed or not activated ?

For the wattage you're looking for yea, $80 would get you a good-quality supply. You could probably get away with even less - th 7850 isn't that power hungry, a good-quality 450W unit should handle it fine unless you've got a crapload oy hard drives or something else that pulls heaps of power. Antec Neo Eco 450W goes for ~$60.

Since you're in Australia, I'd recommend www.pccasegear.com, that's probably the best shop we've got here (if you can order from there, that is).

Have you tried your old RAM as well? If those work only in the same 1 slot as well thes most likely the board is shot. There shouldn't be a need to activate the slots (I've never heard of any such thing, anyway).
