i have a friend who gives me computer advice and i trust his advice but he told me that because i am using the E6400 that i cannot run the 32 bit vista. is this true. i have just want to know be for i buy vista. should i get the 32 or the 64 bit version.

I think any computer can run vista, but some just run it better, It's only an OS, it doesn't matter on the hardware.

i figured that much but he was saying that i can only run the 64 bit version. i think my friend was misinformed but i want to be sure

I think that the 64 bit version is harder to run than the 32... Wait for some other guys to post before you make your decision to buy it :)

Yeah, I agree with Kornowski. Wait for more people to respond. Some people here really know their stuff when it comes to that.

My understanding is that you CAN run 32-bit on that E6400 (I assume that is the Core 2 Duo system you are referring to.)
Anyway, I just did a quick google search and found that Gateway has the E6400 with Vista 32-bit installed on it. So, I guess it is fine. Whether or not 64-bit would be recommended, might be a different story; but you might run into compatibility issues with your installed devices if they don't like 64-bit Vista. Ok, I'll stop rambling and let someone who really knows their stuff in that area respond to you.
