Quick RAM Question

How much RAM does 32 bit XP see? My friend is building a comp and wants 4G in it, but I didn't think 32bit could see all four.

Thanks. If his board supports 1200 speed, would it be better to buy 4G of 800speed, or 2G of 1200 speed?
 
Most people don't need the 3GB or so of RAM 32bit XP will be able to address though. I would think that 2GB is lots. On the other hand RAM is cheap right now and if you think that most/all of the hardware will still be in use when he moves to a 64bit OS then it's a good a time as any to get it.
 
They dropped pretty quickly too. When I built my rig, my RAM was like $120 for 2G, now my same model is worth less than half that.
