Ive got 2x512mb ram chips in my computer, and ive got the change to spend a bit of money upgrading my total ram to 3gb with 2x1gb extra ddr2 DIMM chips, my question is, is it worth spending the money to upgrade, will i actually notice the difference?

I use my computer for gaming (CS S for ever!!!*) and just the usuall stuff like photoshop

Thanks, i hope somebody can help me :)

well yea there will be a difference, but ur better off selling ur 2x512mb for a better type of 2x1gb. 2gbs is all u really need.

how much do u wanna spend?

Well im not really sure i suppose id pay how much i needed to...

my computer has to have ddr2 DIMM ram. i think id rather keep my 1 gig and then buy the extra ram and fill my remaining slots, i can do that right?

do my other computer specs count aswell, couse if my other computer components arnt good enought wont the extra ram be a waste?

Thank again :)

Is it better to ditch my 2x512mb and just get 2x1gb sticks so i can upgrade later on?

if i have my 4 ram slots taken up will it slow down my computer or will it speed it up because of the more ram?

thanks, for answering :)

if you can get rid of your 512 for a reasonable price, go for it and get the 2 gigs. and yes, the more slots you have filled the longer it will take, but you wont notice a difference if you have 2 gig in there. i would say 2 gig would be fine for you, but there are a lot more factors to take into consideration when saying that. and yes, you will notice a difference.

you dont need more than 2gig of ram sell your 512 sticks and get 2 1gig sticks of ram some mobos will only support 2 or 4 sticks so buying a 1gig stick and filling 3 slots on the mobo might not work your pc might not boot and you will have to take out 1 of the sticks
