This will be my first time building a computer. It's intended use is for gaming. My budget is around US$1200. I don't need a keyboard, mouse, or a wireless adapter. My preferred resolution is 1680X1050 w/22" size screen. Due to inexperience, I will overclock later on.

*I really need someone to confirm if the parts work with each other.
Also, would I need any extra cables, etc. or are they included? Any other tips are appreciated. Thanks so much for the help.*

Here are the parts:
Total is about $1200.

Good find. The black version has a 2x larger cache than the blue one. So, you recommend that thermal paste instead?

If the price is the same, I'd recommend the WD. I've heard an awful lot of good things about WD, with some mixed comments from seagate ( Some people swear by them, others just use their immense wit to call them "Seafail" ) Can't say I've used enough of them to generate an accurate personal account on, but the word of the consumer counts too.

Thanks for all the replies.

First off, I purchased an OCZ keyboard for $1 w/ free shipping after $20 rebate.

I would get an ATI, but I prefer Nvidia with their physx drivers and EVGA is giving Batman Arkham Asylum (just released), Cryostasis, and Crazy Machines II for free to download.

For the monitor, I'd get the 1920x1080 resolution one, but the size is the same. So, when I use the native resolution, things will appear smaller than when using the 1680x1050 monitor. To compensate, I'd get a 24", but can't due to available space.

This is my build list (from users at this site and another one):

I was reading some reviews on the MSI mb and discovered that it comes with "Winki." It's a Linux based, instant-on OS.

The Antec Nine Hundred "2" does cost $20 more, but video reviews show that it has much better cable management.

Since it appears that wd and seagate are about the same quality, I went with a faster seagate (recommended by other forum users, too).

Well, any last thoughts? I think I'm set to purchase the parts (will order in a week due to paycheck). Hopefully, nothing will be DOA. I'll post some pics when the build is done. :)

Thanks again.

Even though things will appear smaller, if you plan on gaming it is higher resoloution(Roughly 20% higher resoloution than 1680x1050), i have a 21.5" 1680x1050 and am kicking myself for not going 1920x1080 or 1920x1200.

Also, crazy machines 2 is free anyways(PNY has an XLR8gaming website, and they give crazy machines 2 for free there), and you really need to ask yourself if you are going to play those games, if not an ati card would provide more bang for the buck.

Just a thought, may wanna think about this case:

I was actually going to buy the Cryostasis and Batman games at some point, so I got lucky and now they're free. The ATI route is a good alternative, but I prefer Nvidia anyways.
