Quick Video Card Desicion

Hi, i need to make a quick desicion for a video card, meant for FPS games, like Half-life2, CSS, Far Cry, Doom 3, and still be able to play games in about 2 years.

Here are the choices:
1. eVGA GeForce 6200 / 256MB / PCI Express
2. eVGA GeForce 6600 GT / 128MB DDR / PCI Epress
3. eVGA GeForce 6800 / 256MB DDR / PCI-Express

well if its for budget it will run fine but if you realy wanted it to be at least usable in games to come go for a 7800 gtx or ati new 1800

6800 GT. But that isn't going to last 2 years. It is already having trouble running
FEAR.

I agree. None of the ones in the list will be good for 2 years. The 6800GT might be but you'll be playing games in a couple years prob. on the lowest settings. I does play F.E.A.R. pretty decent though and much better with a bit of tweaking. I suggest if it's in your budget then get it and be prepared to replace it in a couple years for sure. I'll be replacing mine in the next release of video cards as the price does not warrant the upgrade for the 7800GT or even GTX Although they are much nicer cards.

Um, he isn't talking about a 6800GT, he is talking vanilla i believe, because he would have said GT if it was GT......just clarifying.

FEAR easily kills a 68GT, if you want it at 12x96 or higher/nice looking.

Did not need the clarification but thanks. The GT was mentioned because the highest card in his list was the 6800. So the explanation was that the GT cannot run F.E.A.R. At all the highest settings perfectly so don't expect the 6800 too. I thought I was running at the highest settings but Praetor set me straight :P and had me re-check those settings...... Just clarifying further.

Yes and? I believe the point being made is that if the GT has trouble playing games at the highest settings today where will it stand 2 years from now? It will play the games I'm sure but sadly he'll have to play on very low settings the way you do today :(. Also considering he is not even considering the GT in his list I'm not so sure in 2 years from now he be wanting to keep the card.
