quick zalman cnps-7700 question

I'm building another comp with a dual core processor, so I decided to get the zalman cnps-7700. Problem is, it doesn't fit by about a quarter inch, the fins hit my power supply. Anyone else have an issue like this? I was thinking about trimming the fins but that would blow any chance of a return if that doesn't work. There's nothing out of the ordinary about either the case or PSU either. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thats a very big HSF that wont work with some motherboards. You should have checked the Zalman site to see if it's compatible. Sorry to hear that it isn't :(

What motherboard do you have just to double check?

It's an intel, I know not exactly an overclocker's dream or anything but I'm building it or my mom (wanted her to have absolutely no heat problems whatsoever...) and I had a problem with my foxconn so she wanted a company she had heard about. I'm thinking about just trimming the outer fins where they bend up a little and that will give me enough clearance. It's not an issue with contact with the mobo, it's the PSU like I said so the board meets the intel standards or whatever that zalman stated on their site. Basicaly I kinda want someone to tell me if the trimming thing should work out alright or if I'm doing something incredibly stupid. I already made sure the fan itself won't hit the PSU if I trim it.
