Quicken help

Ok, the program quicken is screwy as hell from what I can tell, but I seriously need some help with this.

The story is I was over at my grandma's house (in another state) and Quicken (which she uses for keeping track of all her bills) been giving her a message to back up her data forever and no one was able to do it so she asked me for help. So I stick in a CD, and it tells me the path it to back everything back up to is D: (her cd drive), but then I click browse and see that the actual location it's backing up to is somewhere on her hard drive, so I manually changed the directory to her d: drive and it backed everything up. I went and checked just to make sure the backup worked and it was all good, she was right there watching me do it and she said it was cool.

Anyway next day I'm on the road back home and she gives me a call saying a bunch of her data is gone or she can't get to it or whatever, i'm not exactly sure. so my thought was that this screwy program actually deleted her files off her hard drive when i backed them up to cd, so I explained to her how to go onto the backup disc and copy the files back to the quicken directory in her program files, and bam there they were when she opened up Quicken. One problem.... her checks only go up to like april of this year...wtf? I'm gonna try using a remote connection to see if I can help her out. I don't THINK she deleted anything off her drive so it should all be there somewhere.

Anyone out there had similar problems or any ideas on this?

I use Quicken all the time and have never had this problem. When you back up the files it merely copies the existing files to another location. You mentioned that you changed the path statement. Is this what is messing her up? A simple backup such as what you did should not create additional problems or wipe out files.
