quieter CPU fan

I'm running an Intel Pentium 4, 2.4GHz, 533MHz (Socket 478) processor on an MSI 845PE Max motherboard. When I built the computer, I installed a Thermaltake CPU fan. The computer is so noisy that you can hear it across to the other side of the house. I've changed out case fans to newer, quieter ones and I recently changed graphics card. I know the noise is not coming from the power supply, so it must be narrowed down to the CPU fan. I'd like to change it out, but what should I purchase to replace it? I've heard that the Zalman ones are great but extremely heavy. I also heard some conflicting reports about the Nexus PHT-3600. I really don't know where to turn. Anyone have ideas? Thanks!

Something I did with my old SocketA heatsink was get a converter(from 60mm to 80mm) and got a really nice and quiet 80mm fan. It probably would be better to get a whole new setup if you're HS isn't too good, but that's a cheap fix ;P

Zalmans are good. Even if it is heavy, the cooling power is very good and they are extremely quiet. I'd buy one. The CNPS7000B-Cu is a very good model.

Yeah, it is a good fan. I have one. But be warned it is the size of a bloody small car and wieghts almost a kilo. So be sure that you mobo can fit the damn thing and that your ram/agp is not catching, your MSI 845PE Max should be ok. It is not listed as a non supported board on the web site.

They are quiet and you get a speed mate as well. the speed mate is no good for me (as you can see by my overclock in the sig) but can really help with a stock set up like yours.
