Whats the difference bettween SATA/150 and SATA2/300 for example these 2 hard drives

SATA2: Western Digital WD2500JS Caviar SE 250GB 7200RPM SATA2/300 8MB Cache (the one im getting for my build, if its any good...)

SATA: Western Digital WD2000JD 200GB SATA/150 7200RPM 8MB Cache - OEM


I dont know if theres any difference at all but it was bugging me lol

the difference between sata and sata2 is that sata2 theoretically transfers twice as fast, in reality this is not an issue as transfer speeds are severely bottlenecked by the drives themselves. There will be a slight difference between sata and sata2, but you won't notice it empirically. It also matters whether or not your mobo supports sata2 speeds. Sata2 is backwards compatible though, so if you have components that are mixed sata and sata2 you shouldn't have any problems
