just a noob

ok, so my question is what processor should i get, because it will come out to be about the same for me, and please dont tell me get the q9450 just because its 45 nm, or its newer give me a few more reasons than that please

I would wait for the price drops(was supposed to happen last monday,oh well  )to see where prices will settle down at.The qx6700 cheapest price was around 522 dollars from pricewatch.com so it is definitely higher. The q6700 is around 280 or so from what I have seen and has a 10 multi I think. After price drops the q9450 may or may not drop in price but will be replaced by the 9400 which wont be as good.Q9550 will drop to Q9450 price and has 2.83 clockspeed and .5 higher multi.I think this is best price/performance option. As to which is better now I guess the Q9450 due to price/coding/architecture.I am not sure the Qx6700 clocks any higher than a regular Q6700 from what I have read so for price to performance Id go with the Q9450

Yes I believe so.That is why I listed both. The Q6700 may or may not be worth it compared to a Q6600 depends on whether you get a good Q6700 or not ,if you dont it wont clock any higher than a Q6600.If you get a good one though I have heard people getting very high clocks with those

Yeah ,I would definitely not get the Qx6700 due to price/performance.He may or may not have meant the Qx6700.The selling point I can see for the new 45 nm proc's I think is the code and 12 mb L2 cache. They may or may not clock higher than a Q6600,from some of the reviews I have I read some people getting around 3.2 when a Q6600 can get 3.6 clock .On the other hand some get 3.5 or 3.6 so I guess its luck and having a good MB

*edit here are some places that still sell the Qx6700 although I dont know one would buy them.Kinda like oldflagship video cards that keep their high prices even though newer cards come out that are better and lower priced.

i can buy them new off ebay, still in box, the main reason i asked q9450 is the 12mb cache, and the qx6700 has an "x" in its name meaning it is the extreme edition with an unlocked multiplier, under a phase change solution i could probably keep i around 4.5ghz stable if i wanted to

whats the voltage on the northbridge and the chip? thats a really bad oc as far as i can tell, i just know this is going to end with me buying a qx9650 =\

When the price drop occurs the q9650 is supposed to be introduced at around $ 550 or so and it has a 3.0 base clock as well 9.0 multi. This may be a cheaper option.I know for myself that I havent ruled it out yet for my own build
