Racing Wheel Won't Work

I recently built my new computer, but I have run into an issue while installing my racing wheel. It is a Thrustmaster NASCAR Pro Force Feedback. I downloaded the drivers online. I went through the installation of drivers, and it recognized the wheel when I plugged the wheel in for the setup process. However, each time I plug it in, Windows pops up with the new hardware wizard, and there is no way for me to have that install it, since the only thing I have for it is the .exe I got online. The wheel does not work in any of my games, so apparently something more needs to be done than installing the drivers. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Did you "execute" the .exe file?

I know, I am worse than a Tech support with my common sense questions. Leave it plugged in after setup, try that. If not, then give more info, plz.

Make sure it is the right drivers, as well.

Definitely the correct drivers. I ran the .exe, uninstalled driver, ran it again... and repeated that a few times hoping it would work. Windows still pops up with that window and is unable to install it.

hmm, very strange.......make sure you are having no errors during the install process.

Try to use the Windows New hardware thing and locate the file using that to install, perhaps that will help. This is XP, no?

It is XP. So the .exe file on my desktop has a file somewhere that I can locate to use with the installer? How would I find where this is?

comptuer technicians say, install the software before you plug in any hardware.

maybe that helps
