Radeon 4850 512 Mb vs 1 Gb

Ok I'm trying to decide between these two versions. There's a 512 mb and a 1 gb (both made by Sapphire) on Newegg. Now, obviously the 1 gb is going to be better, but how much better?

The price difference is $30. But I don't know how much the video card relies on onboard memory vs the memory through the MB. Is the 512 mb difference worth the 30 dollars?

Primarily because I'm a cheap ass. $30 is a lot of food and beer. Primarily beer but still, think of the food.

I'm running a dual monitor display (which both accommodate) and it will be used for gaming.

hold on,

if you go 1gb video card, this addressing space will count towards your total system memory. if you have 32-bit os and 1gb video card, you will max out system memory at 3gb. if you want to go crossfire, with two 1gb video cards, you will max out your sysmem at 2gb.

if you have 64-bit OS and use HD resolution or higher, with large 24" display or larger, then 1gb will be good to have.

wait, since I have 8gigs of ram and a 1gig 280GTX I am still only getting 8gigs correct. Since vista 64 has a max of 8gigs. Should I take out one of my chips of ram or just leave it?

Vista x64 Basic Supports 8GB
Home Premium x64 16GB
x64 Vista Business, Enterprise and Ultimate will take up to 128GB of ram
