Radeon 6990/Nvidia gtx 595

Going nuts waiting for the release of these cards! Does anyone know any details on specs, release date, or pricing? I was trying to plan out how much i'll need to finish up my build so anything you know regarding these cards, please post here. It surprised me a fair bit that they haven't been mentioned very much anywhere, so i'm naturally highly curious about them. Also, please post links here when they hit stores- i've been holding off getting my graphics card due to their upcoming release, so i'm wanting to know the second it happens! The wait is killing me.

I'm hanging onto my gpu money because according to some rumored specs, the 6990 is gonna be the king! Hoping it will be worth it. Almost the end of the month and no one knows anything yet?
 
really are you sure cause i heard the new gtx card idk if its the 595 or the 590 is going to be a dual card liek the 5970 but better, and its supposed to be king so im not sure
 
Dude, I'd just get a GTX580. Awesome card, will handle anything you throw at it. Anything more powerful and your (comparably) "weak" 6 core CPU will bottleneck it.
 
Probably not. These cards fit into a bracket all of their own, so their release won't affect the sales of the other cards below it. Everything will likely stay about the same for a little while now.

Right now no single card compares to the 5970, it is king for the moment, but its a dual processor card. Now Nvidia with its next release is supposed to drop their own dual processor card, idk if its the gtx590 or the 595 but its supposed to be king.... again though it will carry the price tag as such expect +$1000 range for the dual processor card
 
By the 4gb spec, 6990 sounds like the replacement for the 5970 4gb which is also up in the 1000ish area. I had hoped it would drop in around 5 or 600 due to the lower costs of 6xxx series, and also judging by the price point of the 6970. Why have the next most powerful card costing 700 more and not closer to home?

because they dont compete... if the 6990 is 4gb then its in its own class, it will be a single processor 4gb card correct? Leaveing the 5970 still a dual processor card. or maybe ati is telling us its not a big of step up as we all think its going to be
 
I had thought it was gonna be like this one or the Sapphire Toxic 4gb. Leaked true or not specs seem to place it on a limited edition playing field. I dunno, I was just hoping someone knew something, otherwise this thread is an epic fail.

what Rocko said, the 6990 is going to be a daul GPU, and i believe that the Nvidia card is going to be the gtx 595. the price rang for the 6990 is going to be around the same price the 5970 was when it was released, around $600-$700.

I guess 5970's just dropped in price today, so i'm hoping to see the 6990 emerge very soon. If it's a better deal than 5970 I may pick it up, and vice versa.

You know I have to say ATI and Nvidia are beginning to confuse me. They have released a lot of models in a very short amount of time lol.
