Radeon 9600xt Problem

Almost all videogames made after 2000 do not work on my computer. All of them complain of hardware acceleration or direct3d problems (although it shows that hardware accelerations is on)

ex.
Fatal Error:
No D3D drivers with hardware acceleration found.

I have installed Catalyst 5.13, uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times with no improvement. I don't necessarily expect the hardware to be capable of playing the zenith of, but videogames made 5+ years ago should be no trouble.

What is especially strange is that 6 months ago these games worked fine and since then nothing has changed on my computer.

If you have any ideas about what is causing the problems I would appreciate it a lot.
Thank you,

I had the same problem with my previous 9600XT. Go to dxdiag (start>run>dxdiag), go to the "display" tab, and check and see if the hardware acceleration is enabled. My guess is that it says "not available".

If thats the case, i would un-install the ati drivers and all the ati software, restart and use the windows default driver, use that and see if it works. If it does or doesnt, install the driver only from the ati website.
